"I never really know who I'm looking at when I talk to you, and I'm pretty sure you feel the same way. Why do we create this barrier between us? How hard or scary is it to be our true self in front of the world?"
In "The Mask We Wear," I explore the concept of authenticity and challenge the idea of "persona" we often feel forced to portray in front of others. The artwork's simplicity emphasizes the feelings between the two characters and asks the viewer to reflect on their own lives, how they present themselves to the world and how they see themselves.
How much of our authenticity must we tone down to get along with others?
